This is the final volume of the Dengeki Daisy series and so this will also be my review of the entire series.

Teru is finishing up high school alone. Her beloved big brother has died, her only solace are the messages she exchanges with DAISY, who communicates with her through the cell phone her brother left her. At school, the new janitor seems to be around when Teru needs help, they have a conflict filled relationship totally at odds with what she has with DAISY...

I loved and adored this series! I was totally sucker punched by Teru and Daisy's relationship and how Kurosaki intersected with them. Her brother who is deceased also plays a huge part in the story that makes you sob in heartbreak... The art goes a long way in supporting the story. The mangaka has things gorgeous dreamy way of drawing that has so much emotion! Even though this are static drawings you feel sucked into their emotions and pain.

There is a lovely balance between humor with Kurosaki and the janitor duties and "Go bald, Kurosaki!" Then we have the lovely supportive DAISY who says the right things and sustains Teru when she needs it most... understand the root of DAISY and where he comes from is a counter to all the funny sarcasm. It gives the story this natural feel than shouldn't be thought of lightly.

Why should you read this series?!

"Online" Romance Meet and Fall in Love.
The relationship between Teru and DAISY is so beautiful and when you learn where it stems from it makes you totally melt!!

Sister and Older Brother Relationship.
I love sibling relationships and Teru and her brother's flashbacks make me ache to have an older brother too! This older brother supplies love and comfort even from the grave and it warms your heart.

Themes of Love, Loss and Grief.
I can't even imagine how devastating it is to lose an older brother who protects you so, physically and mentally. Bonding over loss strengthens and remembers.

All the friendships, both old and young!
The secondary and minor characters are so winning! I loved her brother's old friends. His lover who acts as an older sister to Teru. And then there are Teru's friends from school. Kurosaki's old boss who owns a cafe now.

Spies, Secret Agents, Hackers and Government Conspiracies.
Through the beginning of the series this simmers in the background and slips out to test Teru and Kurosaki, until it comes to a head in the end and risks everything!!

As a Writer...

The story does shift near the end of the series (about volume 12 or so) from centering on Teru, DAISY and Kurosaki to being about the mysterious past that haunts them. It is way more than Teru ever knew her brother was going through! We get hackers, spies, action and kidnappings and secret agents... It's an exciting mix that balances the loss and grief that started our story.

Yes, the story dragged at this point.

The mangaka could have simply made Akira the stereotypical villain... but that isn't her way... she believes in hope and trust just as our protagonists do!! Thus we get a story that ends the way it began... with HOPE!

Dengeki Daisy is a series that has it all... romance, action, friendship and a history that makes you want to root for what matters most. You'll fly through this series and love every minute of it!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity
⋆⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension
⋆⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plot
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art

BOTTOM LINE: Best Action Shoujo I've read so far!
