Chriss of Rainy Day Cambridge

mezuzah is up

I’ve spent the past hour looking at the various recreational sporting clubs I might be able to take part of during my time at Harvard. Next to me sits a pile of golden “reminder” post-it notes that have actual events of consequence that I need to keep up with…playing out my ice hockey fantasy is not one of them.

Sigh.  Continue reading “Chriss of Rainy Day Cambridge”

Marching  with New Yorkers against the immigration and refugee bans.

I’m exhausted and it’s only February. 2017 has already proved overwhelming. Between Trump protests, carrying around a cardboard cut-out of Hillary Clinton, marches, online debates, and school work, I’ve had little time to post…although I have been keeping up with Shiksa-ism’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter presence (so follow me already!). 5777 Here I Come!

IMG_4882.jpgShana Tova! I predict that 5777 is going to be a helluvah year.

It has been ages since my last post, however Shisksa*ism has been going strong on Facebook and Instagram…so please check it out and “like” it…or whatever the appropriate term is. Feminism , Tots & Vacation

primer School has been keeping me insanely busy and… I love it! For my “women and religion” course I wrote a short primer for the “radical progressive-feminist child” that touches upon the messages of a few theologians. It proved a hard task and I’m sure no child will be able to understand what I wrote. Sooooo you just get the cover page.  Continue reading “Feminism , Tots & Vacation”

Jesus Christ Super Adjective

Through the writing of Mary Daly (who suggests we call G-d—“The Verb’), black feminist Doris Williams and Alice Walker I’ve deepened my understanding of Jesus Christ this week in my Women & Religion course. Continue reading “Jesus Christ Super Adjective”

Castrating G-d.

IMG_1916Not my phrase…although I wish I had thought of it. This is from “radical” theologian Mary Daly‘s book: “Beyond God the Father.” She calls Eve: “patriarchy’s prostitute.” Just brilliant.

Ready, Set Go!

Aaaaaaand the second set of summer courses has started! I am taking “Women and Religion” and a computer course (there is a 2 class limit). It’s only day one and I’ve been assigned to write a 2-page paper on the definition of a “woman”, reading the two creation stories in Genesis and a 3-4 sentence definition of the term “religion” through the lens of an additional assigned reading. Continue reading “Ready, Set Go!”
